How prepared is your hospital?

Michigan begins sharing coronavirus data for health systems across the state.

As of April 23, Bronson Healthcare has seven to 14 days worth of N95 masks on hand. Ascension, owner of Borgess Hospital, has 15 to 21 days worth of surgical masks at the ready.

We know this because of coronavirus preparedness statastics now being made public on Michigan’s website.

The webpage also tracks how many coronavirus patients are being cared for in each group of facilities and how close to capacity each is.

“The purpose of this data is to provide meaningful, actionable information to the public and decision-makers,” said Michigan Health and Hospital Association Senior Vice President Ruthanne Sudderth in an article on MLive. “So without understanding the needs of a particular hospital or system, providing quantities alone does not provide a lot of meaning.”
