Kalamazoo golf courses plan to reopen May 1

Local golf association said private clubs are flouting the law.

The Kalamazoo Municipal Golf Association is preparing to reopen its golf courses May 1.

The organization manages three public golf courses in Kalamazoo: Milham Park Golf Course; Eastern Hills Golf Club; and Red Arrow Golf Course. All have been closed since Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued the stay-at-home order for non-essential businesses April 9.

In an email, the KMGA said some golf courses in the area have chosen to ignore the governor’s order, allowing members to continue using their facilities. They did not specify which courses were breaking the order. They said the clarifications on the order clearly bar use of golfing facilities during the shutdown.
