Residents of two Kalamazoo facilities test positive for coronavirus
Seventeen residents and three employees of a Kalamazoo nursing home have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a press release, Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department announced that is was working closely with MediLodge of Kalamazoo to contain the virus.
County health officials said they are providing “personal protective equipment supplementary support, staff education, and infection prevention technical assistance to all community partners and long-term care facilities and nursing homes” including MediLodge.
At the same time, one resident of Kalamazoo’s only overnight homeless shelter has tested positive for COVID-19. The county says the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission has isolated the person and is working to screen all residents and employees for the virus.
