Kalamazoo doctor records song in honor of front-line workers

He’s not a singer or musician, just a doctor in his last month of residency at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. However, when inspiration struck, he went with it.
Dr. Jeffrey Laman was inspired listening to Toby Keith’s song “American Soldier” on the radio one day. So he went home and rewrote the lyrics to be about those working on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.
“It was very easy and it just seemed to flow and it’s about exactly what we do every day,” he said in an interview with WWMT.
“I … hope that the song reminds (healthcare workers) that they are not alone, that we are in this together and that we each have people working alongside us in this fight,” he said.
