Hospital visitation resumes immediately

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has loosened restrictions on visiting people in the hospital and other healthcare facilities.
On Wednesday, the governor rescinded three executive orders that restricted visitation to hospitals, outpatient clinics, and doctor’s offices.
Visitors will still be required to wear a mask and maintain social distance. In addition, visitors will have to pass a health screening administered by the healthcare facility.
Visitors will also be restricted to a patient’s room or other designated space when visiting someone in the hospital.
Visitors are beneficial to a patient’s recovery, said Robert Gordon, director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, in a release.
“As long as strong precautions are taken to help ensure the health and safety of visitors, patients and staff, this order allows for exceptions to those restrictions,” he said.
