Kalamazoo baseball season to open July 1

The Kalamazoo Growlers will begin a 60 game schedule along with a new, second Kalamazoo team.

Kalamazoo will have a baseball season opener this summer, albeit a little later than usual.

In a post on the team’s website, the Kalamazoo Growlers announced they will kick off a 60 game season with a match on July 1. They also announced the formation of a second Kalamazoo team, the Mac Daddies.

Home games will take place at Homer Stryker Field. The venue has a COVID-19 plan in place that includes reduced capacity, sanitation protocols, and requesting attendees to wear face masks when moving through the park.

In order to reduce crowding, the ballpark plans to release attendees after the game ends by calling their row numbers.
