Michigan nears 60k coronavirus cases
Nearly 60,000 Michiganders have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Sunday, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
Although the rate of new infections is slowing across of the state, health officials are worried about a possible resurgence.
The state reports that 5,770 people have died from coronavirus and data modeling suggests that number could reach 9,000 by October.
New updates to the model suggest the state’s COVID-19 fatality numbers could peak in early October rather than in August as previously projected.
