Coronavirus cases spike again in Michigan

On Wednesday, the state reported 891 new infections. With suspected cases, it's more than 1,000.

State officials reported a staggering number of new coronavirus infections Wednesday: 891. It’s the highest daily total in two months and brings the seven day moving average to 579.

Most of the increase comes from the state’s most populous counties: Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland Counties. Kalamazoo County’s daily total was lower than average with seven confirmed new cases.

The statewide surge in cases comes at the same time as a corresponding surge in testing. State officials reported more than 33,800 COVID-19 tests Wednesday, the highest single day total so far.
