Kalamazoo schools launches summer food program

Meals are distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays at several sites throughout the district.

Kalamazoo Public Schools on Tuesday launched its summer food program, Meet Up and Eat Up.

The program provides seven days of breakfasts and lunches to anyone 18-years-old and younger, or up to age 26 if enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled.

The program is a continuation of one the district has been running since the state went under stay-at-home orders in March. Many children don’t get to eat regularly when school is not in session.

Meals can be picked up on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:30am and 12:30pm:

  • Edison Environmental Science Academy, 924 Russell St.
  • El Sol Elementary, 604 W. Vine St.
  • Hillside Middle School, 1941 Alamo Ave.
  • Kalamazoo Central High School, 2432 N. Drake Road
  • King-Westwood Elementary, 1100 Nichols Road
  • Lincoln International Studies School, 912 N. Burdick St.
  • Linden Grove Middle School, 4241 Arboretum Pkwy.
  • Loy Norrix High School, 606 E. Kilgore Road
  • Maple Street Magnet School, 922 W. Maple St.
  • Milwood Elementary, 3400 Lovers Lane
  • Milwood Magnet School, 2916 Konkle St.
  • Northeastern Elementary, 2433 Gertrude St.
  • Parkwood-Upjohn Elementary, 2321 Park St.
  • Prairie Ridge Elementary, 2294 S. 9th St.
  • Spring Valley Center for Exploration, 3530 Mt. Olivet Road
  • Washington Writers’ Academy, 1919 Portage Road
  • Woods Lake Elementary, 3215 Oakland Dr.
  • Woodward School for Technology and Research, 606 Stuart Ave.

Pickups are on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12:30 and 1pm at:

  • Fox Ridge Apartments,1320 Fox Ridge Dr.
  • New Village Apartments, 2500 St. Albans Way

Pickups are on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:30am and noon at:

  • Eastside Association, 1301 E. Main St.
  • Interfaith Homes, 1037 Interfaith Blvd.
