COVID infections spike in Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo County experienced a sudden spike in cases of COVID-19 Wednesday. Health officials reported 32 new cases, the highest since the beginning of May.
The number comes after several days of low case counts in the county. The seven day moving average is now 8.29 new cases per day after being half that a day earlier.
Statewide, new case counts are lower than in recent days. State health officials reported 517 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday bringing the moving average to 652 new cases per day.
Officials also reported nine new deaths from the virus.
