State reports 419 new cases of COVID, lowest number in a while
State health officials reported 419 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, the lowest number of new cases in five weeks.
The new number brings Michigan’s seven day moving average down to 615 new cases per day.
The state also reported 19 new deaths from the coronavirus. Most of those deaths, 11, were found during a review of previous death records. The state has an average of 11 new deaths per day.
Testing has dwindled somewhat over the past few days. The state processed more than 40,000 tests during two days last week. Wednesday’s testing number was almost half that – 20,100.
Nonetheless, the positivity rate – the percentage of tests that indicate an infection – is still low. As of Wednesday, the seven day moving average was 3.44% positivity rate.
