State reports 616 new COVID cases, 9 deaths
State health officials announced 616 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday. That follows two days in a row with fewer than 500 new cases. The seven day moving average is 715 new cases per day.
The state also reported nine new deaths from the coronavirus, which puts the seven day moving average at 11 new deaths per day.
Kalamazoo County reported five new cases each day Wednesday and Tuesday.
While Kalamazoo’s case numbers have been declining lately, the Kalamazoo Region has seen an uptick in cases. Last week, the Kalamazoo region reported 50 new cases per 100,000 people, which was an increase over the previous week. The Kalamazoo Region is a state designation for most of southwest Michigan.
