State reports 779 new COVID cases, 20 deaths
Michigan health officials reported 779 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday bringing the seven day moving average to 682 new cases per day.
The state also reported 20 deaths from the virus. Six of those deaths came as a result of a regular review of previous death records the department conducts periodically.
The Detroit area continues to be the source of many of the new cases of COVID-19. That region reported 69 new cases per million people.
The Kalamazoo region, which includes most of southwest Michigan, is one of several regions reporting a decline in cases over the past week. The Kalamazoo region is currently averaging 53 cases per day per million people.
