Federal unemployment benefit already coming to an end

The $300-per-week benefit ordered by the president is close to running out of money.

It was just three weeks ago the federal government signed off on giving $300 per week to Michiganders out-of-work during the coronavirus pandemic. Now that program looks like it’s already be out of money.

The benefit is backdated to the beginning of August, and many Michiganders are waiting on a $900 lump sum payout for the first three weeks of that month. State officials say there may be one more three-week payment coming, but after that the money turns off.
