Governor could allow reopening of gyms, movie theaters
Governor Gretchen Whitmer is on the verge of an announcement that would allow gyms, fitness centers, theaters, bowling alleys, and other businesses shut down since March to reopen. That’s according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
Businesses would still have to operate with reduced capacity and with strict guidelines for preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Gyms and fitness centers would have to require face masks for employees and customers. Closed gyms have been a particular point of contention for some people opposed to the governor’s coronavirus policies.
The announcement could come as soon as Wednesday and the order is anticipated to take effect after Labor Day.
