Kalamazoo cancels holiday parade, Holly Jolly Trolley

The parade organizer says they are planning pandemic-friendly events to take their place.

Two staples of the holiday season in Kalamazoo have been called off this year over concerns about spreading COVID-19.

The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership announced Tuesday they have cancelled the Holly Jolly Trolley and the annual holiday parade.

Sue Huggett, the events director for the organization, said there will still be holiday events planned, just not ones involving large crowds.

“Every year, Downtown Kalamazoo offers a series of events, programs and initiatives to celebrate the winter holiday season,” she said in an interview with WWMT. “This year is no different, but the events, program and initiatives offered will be.”
