Michigan reports 718 new COVID cases, 15 deaths
State health officials reported 718 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday bringing the seven day moving average to 678 new cases per day.
The state also reported 15 new deaths, with eight of them coming from a review of vital records from previous days. The seven day moving average is 11 new coronavirus-related deaths per day.
There has been a worrying rise in cases in college towns in Michigan as students return to campus. More than 200 people have now been infected in Isabella County where Central Michigan University is located. Another outbreak has affected Adrian College in Lenawee County.
More populous counties like Macomb and Oakland had more cases, but lower rates of infection. Oakland had 100 cases, but only seven cases per 100,000 people, while Isabella County recorded just 18 new cases, but 28 per 100,000 people.
