State reports 451 new COVID cases, 7 deaths
Michigan health officials reported 451 new cases of COVID-19 in the state Monday. The seven day moving average dropped to 687 new infections per day.
The low number of new cases is due in part to the relatively low number of tests administered in the previous days. There were only 19,760 tests reported Sunday – the first time testing has dipped below 20,000 since mid-July.
The state reported seven deaths from the virus Monday. The state is averaging 11 new deaths per day.
Kalamazoo County reported one new death from the virus over the weekend bringing the countywide total to 88. County health officials reported 12 new cases of the coronavirus Saturday, 13 Sunday, and four Monday.
