State reports 571 new COVID infections, 11 deaths
State health officials reported 571 new COVID-19 infections Tuesday, bringing the seven day moving average to 767 new cases per day.
The state also reported 11 deaths from the virus, with five of them coming from a review of previous death records.
The coronavirus continues to overwhelmingly affect counties with colleges and universities. Ingham County, home to Michigan State University, is especially hard hit with more than 100 new cases Tuesday.
Kalamazoo County health officials reported 18 confirmed cases and another 18 probable cases Tuesday. Probable cases are a result of blood tests that show a person has antibodies related to the virus, which indicates the person probably had COVID-19 at some point.
