Saturday UM-MSU tailgate cancelled
An event that was meant to be a socially-distanced and safe way for people to get together to watch the much-anticipated rivalry game between Michigan State University and the University of Michigan has been cancelled.
After talking to officials from Kalamazoo County’s health department, organizers decided to call off the tailgate watch party that had been scheduled for Saturday.
The game itself will still go on in Ann Arbor, but due to COVID-19 restrictions only a few hundred people will be able to attend in person.
Kalamazoo County is currently averaging 75 new cases of the coronavirus per day. Health officials have pointed to social gatherings as a significant cause for the rising case counts.
