State launches new, free COVID test sites

The 77 new sites expand the scope of no-cost COVID testing even for people without symptoms.

The State of Michigan is launching 77 new, free COVID-19 testing sites bringing the statewide total to nearly 100. The expansion is part of new partnerships with Walgreens and the Michigan Primary Care Association.

A search for no-cost testing sites in Kalamazoo County brings up three such sites:

  • Walgreens – Kalamazoo
    918 Riverview Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49048
  • Family Health Center
    117 W Paterson Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007
  • OptiMed Health Partners
    6480 Technology Ave, Ste. A, Kalamazoo, MI 49009

All three require an appointment, but will test people who aren’t showing symptoms of the coronavirus.

“Cost should never be a barrier to Michiganders who need health care, including COVID-19 testing,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer in a press release.
