Kalamazoo County cancels all trials until 2021

Kalamazoo County’s courts have adjourned all in-person jury trials until January or February of 2021 due to the surge of COVID-19 cases throughout the county.
The county’s 8th District Court announced it would resume trials in January at the earliest. The county’s 9th Circuit Court and Probate Court will suspend trials until February at the earliest.
What happened: The Michigan State Court Administrative Office has issued guidelines stating that in-person jury trials should be halted if health department data shows an average infection rate above 70 people per million. As of Monday, Kalamazoo County is experiencing nearly 448 new infections per million per day.
