Borgess stops hospital visitors

Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo is halting visitation, citing the rising rates of COVID-19 infections in Kalamazoo and around the state.
While the hospital itself hasn’t had much increase in coronavirus patients in recent weeks, hospitalizations around the state have more than doubled since the beginning of the month.
There are some exceptions to the no-visitor rule. One parent, guardian, or support person is allowed for children or people who need additional support. One visitor is also allowed in Labor and Delivery. The restrictions don’t apply to end-of-life visitations.
The rules are outlined on the hospital’s website.
So far, Kalamazoo’s other hospital – Bronson Methodist Hospital – has not cut off visitations. They do have stringent restrictions meant to limit exposure to COVID-19.
