Vaccinated students could win thousands in scholarships

WMU is offering cash incentives to students who have been vaccinated.

Western Michigan University wants to get a handle on how many of its students will be vaccinated by the fall. That’s why the school is planning to give away $110,000 in scholarship money.

Students who can prove they have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus will be entered into a raffle to win the scholarships. A total of 60 students will win some sort of cash prize ranging from $500 to $10,000.

Students who were vaccinated at the university’s Sindecuse Health Center will be automatically entered into the raffle. Others can upload their vaccine documentation through the patient portal.

The first round of winners will be announced August 6, with other drawings to be held each month through December.
