Trump supporters going door-to-door hunting for “ghost voters”

Activists are going door-to-door to try to uncover evidence of voter fraud. The end goal is to overturn Donald Trump's election loss.

Supporters of former President Donald Trump are out knocking on doors and their efforts are likely to increase in the coming weeks as they seek to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election.

During a rally in Lansing earlier this week, organizers said they are searching for “phantom” or “ghost voters.” Essentially, they’re looking for people listed as voters who will say they didn’t vote in last year’s election.

Their mission may be quixotic, but it may also be invasive or threatening. Elections officials warn people to be wary of anyone prying into their voting history.

“Any effort to violate citizens’ privacy or intimidate them by showing up at their doorstep demanding to know how they voted is a desperate attempt to further sow seeds of doubt about election results that were a secure and accurate reflection of the will of the voters,” said Tracy Wimmer, a spokesperson for Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

Activists aren’t sticking to Trump-friendly rural areas either. Organizers say they’re targeting areas where President Joe Biden won the majority of votes. That could even include areas like the City of Kalamazoo and Portage.
